I love flowers and recently i have been trying to figure out ways to make photographs of them look more compelling rather than the standard boring photograph. Here is one of my examples.

cotton candy water

This series was based off of melting cotton candy at coney island. i really enjoyed the composition of these 3 pictures, and how i set them up when they are printed.

soooo actually i want to use color.

I decided to use color.... because it looks so much better, and adds so much more personality to the photograpahs.

selfies yooo

today i worked on my homework assignment, which was to take self portraits. im meh with the turn out, they are not exactly what i wanted, but its alright. i think this is the hard part about shooting in nyc...there are people everywhere, im in an ugly dorm room with not much natural light, and its difficult to find desserted places to shoot, theres so much going on everywhere. anyways, here they are:

hannah series

This series is a representation of my best friend hannah. it may be hard to tell through the photographs, but each one of them is a certain aspect of her personality/favorite things to do. it may of been to literal, but i really enjoyed how it turned out. i miss hannah so much, oh so much, and this photoshoot made me think of her even more.

This was in DUMBO, and I personally really enjoyed the composition.

miss her.

I never knew I would miss this drama queen so much. I love these photos even though they are so creepy, but they are 2 of my favorite pictures I have ever taken, or at least the shoot was my favorite. My parents hate these pictures, but my sisters real personality is not to be shown through them whatsoever. I miss ella so much, her dramatic, bratty attitude, but the sweet kisses and snuggles, and comments she makes. Whenever I call her on the phone her voice just makes me happy. The cute "CAROLINE I MISS YOU", is the one thing that makes me want to go home. I never thought a sister who is 10 years younger than me could be my best friend.

antiques

These three pictures are from my all time favorite antique show, Brimfield. (I love antiques). The show is one of the biggest, longest, and most amazing antique show in the world. It is over a mile long, and each of the fields are pact with jewelry, old furniture, bizarre objects, so many. Each time I go I have taken pictures because the things that are scrambled around this place are so interesting and special. Taking pictures here means something, and I have continued to follow a trend of taking them every time I go, and have developed a large collection of them, both with b&w and color film. Enjoy!

fourth of july

This photograph is also one of my all time favorites because of what is represented. My home is expressed in this picture through the colors, textures, soft light, my crazy sister, the dog walking around, basically every little aspect. I also love the composition and placement from above. This picture most importantly makes me feel at home. Looking at it in New York is secretly making me a bit homesick, but oh well. My family means the world to me, and a common trend in a lot of my photography are images that represent something personally meaningful. My love for this photograph will never change.

This is one of my favorite pictures I have ever taken. It is located in colorado, in a forest full of aspen trees. I cannot explain how beautiful and amazing shooting these photographs were. The experiance was so rewarding and special. I would go back in a heart beat.

central park

Today we went to central park to the lake and took pictures. I ended up playing around with the black poles and back round. This one reminds me of an aquarium. The series of shots I made were out of my comfort zone, and very different than my usual style, but I am very  pleased with the outcome.

Checker Man

I took this picture also in Washington Square Park, continuing my Diane Arbus Project. I loved the mans scarfs on his head, it added so much personality and color to the photographs. The few photographs that I took of him were all very intense, but this one struck my eye because his eyes were less open, and more emotion seemed to come out of his face, although the other ones seemed a bit more powerful.

Martini Man

I took this picture in Washington Square Park today. The artist I picked for our photograph interpretations was Diane Arbus. This guy struck me as a interesting man because of his martini shirt, with a combined bright red yankee hat, a swirly watch, lovely glasses, and an expressive face. The man was very friendly, a bit uptight, but the shots that came from him were by far my favorites. I am not sure if it is because of his apparel, or the raised eyebrow, but something about this photo just gets me. I am not sure if the saturation is completely perfect, there may be a bit too much, so feel free to comment on that.  Also, the back round with the fence and leaves was bothering me a bit, but looking at the photograph more and more I actually like it, because the patterns in the back round reoccur on his shirt, there are also tints of reds throughout his shirt and head which brings out his facial expression more too. Overall I am pleased with how this came out, feel free to make any suggestions.

Car dealership.

There was a car dealership near my house and they closed down a few months ago. I always wondered what was behind them, so Libby and I decided to explore. It was AWESOME. Lets say, the last place you would ever think existed in Wellesley, MA. This is just one of the many photographs. We went during early night so the sun was just setting. There were these huge big lights, which i thought would be broken, but when it got dark, one of the 3 turned on, and I decided to play around with the lighting. Very fun.
